[AnteVisão]: Lawless

"Lawless" é mais um dos filmes que terá uma ante-estreia mundial em Cannes e onde estará também em competição. Baseado no livro "The Wettest Country in the World" escrito por Matt Bondurant este filme, realizado por John Hillcoat, centra-se no periodo em que a América lidava com a lei seca e segue a história de uma família de contrabandistas de alcool que vive fora da lei e que se vê perseguida pelas autoridades que tenta obter uma parte dos lucros. A história é baseada em factos reais uma vez que o escritor do livro era um dos elementos dessa família. Este promete ser um dos filmes do ano e o elenco de luxo é um dos motivos que nos leva a pensar isso. Gary Oldman que foi este ano nomeado pela primeira vez a um Oscar numa carreira que já justificava dois ou três no curriculum, Guy Pearce, Shia LaBeouf, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain (que representa o novo talento de Hollywood) e Tom Hardy são os grandes actores que integram este filme. Portugal ainda não tem data de estreia anunciada mas na minha opinião o filme só deverá chegar às salas nacionais nos finais de Outubro.

"Lawless" is another movie that will have its world premiere in Cannes and is also in competition. Based on the movie "The Wettest Country in the World" written by Matt Bondurant this movie, directed by John Hillcoat centers in the time where America dealed with the Noble Experiment and follows the story of alchool smugglers that live disrespecting the law and gets chased by the authorities that want to have part of the profit. It's based on a true story, since the author was part of that family. This is a promissing movie that might be one of the best of the year, and the amazing cast is one of the reasons. Gary Oldman that was for the first time nominated for an Oscar, with a career that deserved two or three in his curriculum, Guy Pearce, Shia LaBeouf, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain (that represent new talent in Hollywood) and Tom Hardy are the excellent actors that are in this movie. Portugal still hasn't a debut date of premiere anounced but, in my opinion, it will only come in our cinema in final October.

"Cosmopolis" é o novo filme do realizador David Cronenberg que tem como produtor o Português Paulo Branco. A história do filme é baseada na obra homônima de Don DeLilo e centra-se no decorrer de um dia de Eric Packer, um multimilionario de 28 anos que deambula num carro luxuoso pelas ruas de Nova Iorque. Durante estas 24 horas a vida de Eric irá passar por situações a que este nunca antes teve acesso. No papel de Eric Packer temos Robert Pattinson, que tenta cada vez mais distanciar-se da imagem de vampiro a que o associam, Paul Giamatti (Cinderella Man), Jay Baruchel e Juliette Binoche (O Paciente Inglês) compõe o elenco do filme. Esta é mais uma das obras que tem ante-estreia prevista em Cannes e que se encontra em competição. Há quem já lhe chame "o primeiro filme sobre o novo milenio". Por cá tem estreia marcada para o dia 31 de Maio e Robert Pattinson irá passar por Lisboa para promover o filme.

"Cosmopolis" is the first new movie from director David Cronenberg that has as a producer the portuguese Paulo Branco. The movie is based on the homonymous story of Don DeLilo and focuses on the daily life of Eric Packer, a multimillionaire of 28 years that wanders in a luxourious car through the streets of NY. During this 24 hour, the life of Eric will experience situations he has never dealed with before. As Eric Packer we have Robert Pattinson that keeps on separating himself of the image of a vampire, that he's associated, Paul Giamatti (Cinderella Man), Jay Baruchel and Juliette Binoche (The English Patient) are compose the cast of this film. This is one more movie that premieres in Cannes and is also in competition. It already called as "the first movie about the new millenium". In Portugal it premieres at 31st May and Robert Pattinson will pass by Lisbon to promote it.

[AnteVisão]: On the Road - Pela Estrada Fora

"Pela Estrada Fora" é baseado no livro de Jack Kerouac e tem como personagens centrais Dean e Sal, dois jovens americanos que partem sem rumo quebrando as regras e as visões da época (anos 50/60) com o objectivo de experienciar todas as sensações possíveis e imaginárias. "Pela Estrada Fora" é no fundo o retrato da chamada "Beat Generation". Este projecto ficou a cargo do realizador brasileiro Walter Sales que reuniu um elenco de luxo. Sam Riley (Control), Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy), Kristen Stewart ( Twilight Saga), Amy Adams (The Fighter) Kirsten Dunst (Melancolia), Viggo Mortensen (Uma História de Violência) e Alice Braga (Eu Sou a Lenda) são os principais nomes deste grandioso elenco. Este filme estará em competição no próximo Festival de Cannes e por esta razão espera-se a presença destas estrelas na costa francesa. "Pela Estrada Fora" tem estreia marcada a 31 de Maio em Portugal logo depois da ante-estreia em Cannes.

"On the Road" is based on Jack Kerouac's book and has as central characters Dean and Sal, two young americans that travel without direction, breaking rules and the vision of that time (years 50/60) with the gold of experience as many sensations as possible. Deep down, "On the Road" potrays the so called "Beat Generation". This project was in charge of the brazillian director Walter Salles that united an amazing cast. Sam Riley (Control), Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy), Kristen Stewart ( Twilight Saga), Amy Adams (The Fighter) Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia), Viggo Mortensen (A History of Violence) e Alice Braga (I am Legend) are the main actors of this excellent cast. This movie will be in competition for the next Cannes Festival and, for this reason the presence of these stars is expeced in the french coast. "On the Road" premieres at 31st of May in Portugal, right after the premiere in Cannes.

Festival de Cinema de Cannes 2012 - Selecção Oficial

O Festival de Cinema de Cannes vai celebrar 65 anos e para esta comemoração nada melhor que uma selecção de filmes como a que foi apresentada. Em competição teremos "Pela Estrada fora" do brasileiro Walter Sales, "Cosmopolis" realizado por David Cronenberg e produzido pelo português Paulo Branco, "Amour" de Michael Haneke que conta com a actriz Rita Blanco no elenco, "Lawless" entre muitos outros grandes titulos.

The Cannes Cinema Festival will celebrate its 65th years old and for this comemoration, nothing better than a movie selection like the one that was presented. In competition we have "On the Road" by the brazillian Walter Sales, "Cosmopolis" directed by David Cronenberg and produced by the portuguese Paulo Branco, "Amour" of Michael Haneke that also includes Rita Blanco in the cast, "Lawless", among many other great titles. 

New Season

Os Oscars já passaram, os prémios já foram todos entregues e a temporada de cinema correspondente a 2011 já acabou. As novidades começam a chegar aos poucos, numa altura em que as salas não primam pela qualidade dos filmes em exibição, no meio dos filmes feitos para encher chouriços lá aparece um ou outro que nos desperta a curiosidade. "The Hunger Games - Os Jogos de Fome" é o grande destaque deste inicio de temporada: a terceira posição no ranking das melhores aberturas nos Estados Unidos, as comparações que o aclamaram de o próximo "Harry Potter", as criticas positivas, o talento de Jennifer Lawrence e a grande campanha promocional levaram-nos ao cinema para testemunhar-mos o fenómeno. No cinema Português destacamos "Florbela", o novo filme de Vicente Alves do Ó que conta a história da poetisa Florbela Espanca. Infelizmente, ainda não tivemos oportunidade de ver o filme mas não iremos deixar passar a ocasião quando a tivermos.  Os trailers que antecipam os filmes a estrear mais para a frente já começaram a ser lançados. "Prometheus", "On the Road", " Cosmopolis" e " Moonrise Kingdom" são alguns daqueles que nos deixaram curiosos, este último foi entretanto anunciado como o filme de abertura do próximo festival de Cannes.

The Oscars are gone, and the awards have been handed and the 2011's movie season has ended. There's not many new stuff, in a time in which movies that are been released don't have much quality, in the middle of it, we found one that stood out: "The Hunger Games". This film is this week we highlight for the beginning of the new season: the third position in the ranking of best openings in the US, the common comparisons that acclaimed the next "Harry Potter", the positive critics, Jennifer Lawrence's talent and the big promotional campaign lead us to the cinema to witness the phenomenon. In the Portuguese cinema, he highlight "Florbela", the recent movie of Vincente Alves do Ó that tells the story of the poetess Florbela Espanca. Sadly, we haven't got the chance to watch the movie, but we will as soon as we can !The trailers that anticipate the next movies have been released. "Promotheus", "On the Road", " Cosmopolis" e " Moonrise Kingdom" are  some that made us curious, the last was announced as it will open Cannes.

Festival de Cannes - Cartaz Oficial

O cartaz oficial do 65º Festival de Cannes já foi divulgado, prestando assim uma homenagem a Marilyn Monroe. O certame irá decorrer entre os dias 16 e 27 de Maio. Será então por essa altura que iremos ter acesso às estreias mais antecipadas do ano. Recorde-se que "A Arvore da Vida" e "Meia Noite em Paris", ambos nomeados ao Oscar de melhor filme, tiveram a sua ante-estreia mundial no Festival de Cannes o ano passado.

Review - "Extremamente Alto, Incrivelmente Perto" (2011)

Antes de mais, confesso-me como um verdadeiro fã de toda a obra do cineasta Stephen Daldry. Com uma carreira que conta com uma dúzia de anos e com apenas quatro filmes, este é um daqueles talentos que brilha. A sua eficiência e talento estão mais que provados com as nomeações que obteve da Academia. Foi num filme dele que Nicole Kidman e Kate Winslet ganharam um Óscar e Max Von Sydow foi nomeado.

"Extremamente Alto, Incrivelmente Perto" é o seu ultimo trabalho que arrecadou a nomeação para melhor filme pela Academia. Um trabalho que não foi muito bem recebido pelo publico americano mas, pelo menos cativou-me. O melhor do filme é, sem duvida alguma o argumento - uma historia incrível que aborda o amor de um filho pelo pai, apesar de muitos insistirem que o filme é sobre o 11 de Setembro. Esqueçam essa ideia: Como o próprio poster faz questão de dizer: "Não é uma historia sobre o 11 de Setembro. É sobre os dias seguintes".

Em "Extremamente Alto, Incrivelmente Perto" assistimos ao modo como um jovem Oskar Schell (Thomas Horn) lida com a dor da perda do pai no 11/09. Um ano depois da perda, Oskar encontra no fundo de um jarro azul que estava guardado no guarda-roupa do pai uma chave, e com ela apenas uma pista: o nome Black. Decidido a encontrar a fechadura que esta chave abre, Oskar parte numa expedição que o faz lembrar os jogos que fazia com o seu pai, na qual conhece seres humanos incríveis.

Thomas Horn interpreta com distinçao Oskar Schell, um pré-adolescente sobredotado com um raciocínio de rapidez consideravél, extremamente cauteloso e capaz de conseguir bater o recorde de maior numero de palavras ditas num curto espaço de tempo, dada a rapidez com que fala. Apesar de se assumir como uma promessa, as grandes interpretaçoes do filme são de secundários como Max Von Sydow com um papel fantástico mesmo sem pronunciar uma unica palavra, de Viola Davis nos poucos minutos que apareceu ou até de Sandra Bullock.

"Extremamente Alto, Incrivelmente Perto" tem a capacidade de nos contar uma boa historia e de nos arrancar umas lagrimas mesmo quando sabemos que estamos a ser iludidos mas, afinal de contas, o cinema é isso mesmo. É certo que se nota, desde os primeiros minutos, a preocupação com a criação de um drama que assente nas medidas da Academia, mas isso não tem de ser necessariamente mau.

"Extremamente Alto, Incrivelmente Perto" assume-se, assim, como um dos filmes do ano e a sua visualização vale a pena, quanto mais não seja pela história.

First of all, I confess: I'm a true fan of all Stephen Daldry's work, with a career of a dozen years and only four movies, this is one of those talents that shine. His efficiency and talent are more than proven with the nominations he got by the Academy. It was in one of his movies that Nicole Kidman and Kate Winslet won an Oscar and Max Von Sydow was nominated.
"Extremely Loud, Incredibly Close" is his last work that got the nomination for best movie by the Academy. It wasn't quiete well received by the american audience but, at least, it captivated me. The best of the movie is, without a doubt, the screenplay - an amazing story that talks about the love of a son for his father, although many insist that the movie is about the 9/11. Forget that idea: As the poster itself says:" It's not a story about the 9/11. It's about the days that followed".
In "Extremely Loud, Incredibly Close" we watch to Oskar Schell (Thomas Horn), a young boy that deals with the grief of his dad's lost on the 9/11. A year after that, Oskar finds at the bottom of a blue jar that was kept in his father's closet, a key and with it, a clue: the name Black. Determined to find the locker to the key, Oskar starts a journey that reminds the games he used to play with his father, in which he meets many incredible human beings.
Thomas Horn plays amazingly Oskar Schell, a gifted teen, with a quick logic, extremely careful and capable to beat the record of most words spoken in a short period of time, given the speed in which he talks. Despite considering himself as promising, the best interpretations are secondary, like Max Von Sydow that with an awesome part, even without saying a word, Viola Davis in the few minutes she appeared or even Sandra Bullock.
"Extremely Loud, Incrdibly Close" assumes itself as one of the best movies of the year, and it's worth watching, at least for the story.
