“Os Descendentes” é o mais recente filme do realizador Alexander Payne (Sideways), onde nos é dado a conhecer Matt King (George Clooney), um pai e marido ausente, que após a sua mulher sofrer um acidente e entrar em coma se vê na obrigação de comandar as rédeas da família. Contudo, esta tarefa não se avizinha fácil: a sua relação com as filhas ficou perdida no tempo que não passaram juntos o que torna as coisas mais complicadas, o estado de saúde da sua mulher fica cada vez mais frágil, tem nas mãos um negócio que o poderá tornar milionário e como se isto não fosse suficiente descobre que a sua mulher o traiu através da sua filha mais velha (Shailene Woodley) e decide ir procurar o amante da mulher com a família a reboque.
Em “Os Descendentes” acompanhamos os problemas de uma família havaiana, e o filme parte deste contraste: Havai Vs Problemas familiares, uma vez que todos associamos a vida no Havai ao paraíso. Este é um dos pontos favoráveis do filme, o local escolhido para gravar, a bonita paisagem sai-se muito bem e a banda sonora dá uma excelente ajuda. O argumento não se saiu mal, mas aquela ideia de querer encontra o amante da mulher para se despedir dela não me convenceu minimamente (nenhum homem na vida real faria isso), assim como a personagem de Judy Greer (especialmente a sua ultima cena). As interpretações são sem dúvida o ponto alto do filme. Clooney tem em “Os Descendentes” a melhor performance da sua carreira, ainda que não sei porquê me faça lembrar “Nas Nuvens”. Shailene Woodley mostrou o seu talento com uma personagem francamente irritante interpretando-a de uma forma surpreendente que me deixou vontade de conhecer mais do seu trabalho (mas é claro que não vou ver “A vida Secreta de um teenager Americana”). Sid (Nick Krause) tornou o filme mais descontraído com as suas intervenções desnecessárias mas engraçadas. O melhor de “Os Descendentes” é a capacidade que tem de nos comover e ao mesmo tempo de nos pôr bem-dispostos. Um drama com fragmentos de comédia excelente para uma tarde de domingo. De qualquer dos modos não posso deixar de dizer que na minha opinião o filme foi sobrevalorizado.
“The Descendants” is the most recent movie of the director “Alexander Payne (Sideways), where we meet Matt King (George Clooney), a father and absent husband, that after the accident of his wife and consequently coma, was forced to take control of his family. However, this task isn’t expected to be easy: his relationship with his daughters was lost because of the time they didn’t spend together, which makes things even harder, the health of his wife is getting worse and worse, and he has in his hands a business that could make him millionaire , as if that wasn’t enough, he discovers that his wife cheated on him through his older daughter (Shailene Woodley) and decides to look for the lover , taking his family with him.
In “The Descendants”, we follow the problems of an Hawaiian family , and the film starts from this contrast: Hawaii vs family problems, once we all associate the life in Hawaii to paradise. This is one of the good moments of the movie, the place chosen to shoot, the beautiful scenery and the soundtrack also helps. The screenplay was ok, but the idea of wanting to find the lover his wife, to say goodbye to her didn’t convince me at all (any man would do such thing), as the character Judy Greer (specially her last scene). The interpretations are, without a doubt, the best of the movie. Clooney has in “The Descandents” the best performance of his career, although I don’t know why it reminds me of “Up in the Air” Shailene Woodley proved her talent with a character frankly annoying, playing it in an surprising way, that made want to know more about her work (but, obviously, I’m not going to watch “The Secret Life of an American Teenager”) . Sid (Nick Krause) turned the movie more relaxed with his unnecessary, however funny, interventions. The best of “The Descendants” is the ability to touch us and, at the same time, put us in a good mood. A drama with pieces of comedy, excellent for a Sunday afternoon. Anyway, I can’t finish without saying that the movie, in my opinion was overrated.
