Depois de no ano passado nos apresentar “A Rede Social”, o filme sensação do ano, que apesar de aclamado pela critica, saiu derrotado nos Óscares, David Fincher acabou de estrear o filme que marca o regresso do realizador ao mundo do crime “Millenium 1: Os Homens que Odeiam as Mulheres".
Inspirado no best seller mundial da autoria de Stieg Larsson “Millenium 1: Os Homens que Odeiam as Mulheres” chegou às salas apelidado de remake, dada a já existência da versão sueca, mas na verdade “Millenium 1: Os Homens que Odeiam as Mulheres” não é um remake mas sim uma obra totalmente distinta e de uma qualidade extrema. Melhor ou pior que a versão sueca? Isso cabe a cada um decidir.
Em “Millenium 1: Os Homens que Odeiam as Mulheres”, Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) é um jornalista de investigação que se dedica a denunciar a corrupção na sua revista, Millenium. No entanto, um processo onde este é acusado de difamação afasta-o das lides jornalísticas e fá-lo aceitar o convite de Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer) e investigar o desaparecimento da sua sobrinha, Harriet, há cerca de 36 anos num evento familiar. Durante esta investigação Blomkvist vê-se obrigado a contratar Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), uma hacker com uma personalidade extremamente complexa, que o irá ajudar nesta investigação.
A personagem de Lisbeth Salander acaba com facilidade por captar todas as atenções, colocando qualquer uma das outras personagens num patamar secundário, assumindo-se assim como a verdadeira protagonista do filme. Este facto deve-se em parte à personalidade desta Lisbeth Salander: punk, hacker de profissão, com problemas nas relações sociais, bissexual e vítima de abuso sexual. De tudo isto conjugado resulta: uma das personagens mais ferozes e selvagens, ainda que com alma e sentimentos, que o cinema alguma vez viu.

De facto, a essência do filme concentra-se principalmente na personagem de Lisbeth que gerou a maior competição de Hollywood na luta por uma papel desde os tempos de Scarlett O’hara (Vivien Leigh) em “E Tudo o Vento Levou”. Rooney Mara derrubou nomes como Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portan e até Keira Knightley e agarrou aquela que, além da personagem mais invejada de Hollywood é o papel da sua carreira. Para isto, passou por penosos testes de imagem e provou aos produtores que eles estavam errados e que ela era mesmo a pessoa certa para o papel. O resultado final está esplêndido. Rooney tornou-se na verdadeira revelação de talento do ano e despertou a curiosidade de inúmeros críticos. A forma como encarnou aquela musa rebelde, Lisbeth, que possui uma confiança desmedida na sua sexualidade e uma imagem tão forte quanto selvagem foi reconhecida e a prova disso é a nomeação ao Óscar que acaba de recebe.
No entanto, "Millenium 1: Os Homens que Odeiam as Mulheres" não é apenas Lisbeth Salander, é um excelente enredo em torno de um assassino em série que nos deixa presos ao ecrã até aos últimos segundos. Para além do habitual talento de David Fincher, somos ainda agraciados com uma banda sonora magnífica, da autoria de Trent Reznor e Attilus Ross, que haviam colaborado anteriormente com Fincher em “A Rede Social”. Apesar de muita especulação, “Millenium 1: Os Homens que Odeiam as Mulheres” não possui assim tantos momentos chocantes como esperados sendo esse o ponto menos favorável do filme. Contudo, este é um dos melhores filmes do ano onde nem os créditos iniciais foram deixados ao acaso.

In fact, the essence of the film focuses, mainly on the character of Lisbeth that created the biggest competition of Hollywood in the fight for a role since Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh) in “Gone with the Wind”. Rooney Mara defeated names such as Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and even Keira Knightley and grabbed what is, not only the most envied part in Hollywood but also the character of her career. For that, she went through some hard image tests and proved the producers that he was wrong and that she really was the right person for the job. The final product is splendid. Rooney became the true talent revelation of the year and made critics curious. The way she embodied that rebel muse, Lisbeth, that has an excessive confidence in her sexuality and an image as strong as wild and that was acknowledged, and the proof is in the Oscar nomination that she has just received.
Yet, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” is not only Lisbeth Salander, it’s an excellent cast around a serial killer that leaves us glued to the screen until the last seconds. Besides David Fincher’s usual talent, we’re also presented with a magnificent soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Attilus Ross that have previously collaborated in “The Social Network”. Although the speculation, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” doesn’t have as many shocking moments as expected, beig that one unfavorable point of the movie. However, this is one of the best movies of the years, where even the initial credits were left behind.
